What it does

Coolify provides a web interface for deploying applications, databases, and services on your infrastructure. It coordinates container builds, server connections, routing, and deployment operations.

Why it’s interesting

A self-hosted platform makes the mechanics behind Git-driven deployments visible. It also leaves server maintenance, capacity planning, and recovery responsibilities with your team.

Real-world use case

Run a Next.js application, API, PostgreSQL database, and Redis on a VPS. Manage deployments and domains through a shared interface while planning backups separately.

What I can learn

  • 01

    Infrastructure orchestration

coordinate remote servers and Docker workloads.

  • 02

    Reverse proxies and TLS

connect domains to running application containers.

  • 03

    Deployment jobs

track builds, logs, and application health asynchronously.

One thing to explore

Asynchronous deployment jobs

Follow the implementation and connect it to the learning points above.

10-Minute Challenge

Trace a deployment job

Before you start: A browser. This ten-minute exercise does not require provisioning or modifying a server.

  1. Open app/Jobs in the repository and find a deployment-related job.
  2. Identify the build command, log handling, and health-check stages.
  3. Sketch how you would detect and report a failed deployment. Installation can be a separate exercise using the official setup guide.
